I love how photography connects people and how photographs emerge from random encounters, coincidences and relationships with others. I like how photography is a language which everyone may quickly understand, without the hard work of actually having to learn another language.

Looking for and documenting the familiar in the unfamiliar, is something that I enjoy doing in my photography. I like to witness the everyday, the routine, the ordinary, the rituals and practices of people’s lives. Having great curiosity about the lives of others; recognising the search for self-knowledge within that and being a able to tell a story are important aims for me.

I find myself saying: "Photography always wins!"; not only because of the: a-picture-is-worth-a-thousand-words analogy, but for the medium’s ability to coexist with us through every facet of our lives. The camera insinuates itself into our existence, profoundly effecting us and our behaviour and I wonder how it changes us? It feels like it changes me.

Give me a camera and I’m happy, which sounds corny, until I acknowledge that taking photographs is an activity which genuinely makes me happier. Photography never loses its magic and I look forward to sharing that with you.

Although I work full time as an Art teacher I am always interested in projects and collaborations which will take me further, challenge me more and allow me to hone my craft. Feel free to make contact with requests.
